Layoffs continue to plague the video game industry, this time affecting the studio behind Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi
Respawn Entertainment shared on social media today that they were making “targeted team adjustments” across the teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. In addition, they also announced the cancellation of two internal projects that were in “early-stage incubation.”
The statement (see below) then shares the studio’s plan for the future of Apex and Star Wars Jedi, and their commitment to “evolving live experiences to crafting new worlds and stories.”
*Update:* According to a report by Bloomberg, the exact number of those affected at Respawn has been estimated at around 100 people. They also reported that one of the games canceled was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe. For more on the report and the layoffs at Electronic Arts, read here.
