In a new report from Bloomberg, it’s been confirmed that EA laid off hundreds of employees yesterday, which includes those affected by their subsidiary Respawn Entertainment. Per Bloomberg, the total number of employees affected was between 300-400.

The report also revealed one of the two canceled projects that Respawn mentioned in their statement to be an extraction shooter based in the Titanfall universe.

A spokesperson for EA responded to Bloomberg when asked for a comment with the following statement, “As part of our continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities, we’ve made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth.”

EA’s profits have been hurting recently, with underperformances by EA FC 25 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard according to their own internal projections. In addition, a declining player-base on Apex Legends has also forced the giant publisher to reconsider their long-term strategy for that live-service game.
