New Game Announcements are Flying Out this Week, and PlayStation Didn't Disappoint with their Presentation Yesterday
The first week of June is a special time for gamers, with tons of new announcements and release dates getting shared left and right. Yesterday, it was PlayStation's turn to drop some announcements and get fans excited for the rest of this year and into next. Check out some of the major highlights from the State of Play below, and make sure to watch the State of Play if you haven't already.
Teased at the beginning of the week by IO Interactive, fans were treated to a first-look at their upcoming James Bond game, First Light, that's set to drop next year. We get a look at the face of their bond, an original character not tied to any movie franchise, and get a taste of this prequel story they're going to tell. Honestly, to know the people behind the Hitman franchise are making this game should have both Bond fans and gaming fans extremely excited.
A wonderful surprise during the presentation, fans were shocked and excited by the announcement of a new Marvel fighting game. The art-style, battle mechanics and story telling all look amazing. You can check out our full recap here to watch the behind-the-scenes video that was also shared about this game.
Fighting game fans were definitely eating well during this State of Play. We got an announcement about a new MK collection dropping this year, as well as a first-look at PlayStation's upcoming Fight Stick controller that drops in 2026.
Nothing like teasing an upcoming tease, but hey, if we have to watch more Ghost of Yotei footage, we're not complaining. The announcement was for a gameplay deep dive happening next month, so you can start to get excited for Ghost of Yotei's release later this year on October 2.
Team Ninja showed off a new installment in the Nioh franchise, following 2020's Nioh 2, and it naturally looks incredible. Team Ninja are riding high on the earlier release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black at the top of the year, and have Ninja Gaiden 4 on the way too. Now we can add Nioh 3 to the list of hack-n-slash games that are a must play when it releases in 2026.
A nice surprise came from Capcom and their updated announcement of Pragmata. The game, originally set to drop in 2022, has had a turbulent development, but now seems to be back on track with a 2026 release time.
An eerie trailer for the new Silent Hill game showed us the first look at gameplay, and announced a September 25th release date. Set in 1960s Japan, you'll have to fight nightmarish monsters, solve puzzles and more while trying to survive.
Final Fantasy fans also got some love yesterday, with a Final Fantasy Tactics remake on the way for September 30th. It will include "classic" and "enhanced" modes, with both offering enhanced graphics, but with optional new features players can use if they choose in the "enhanced" version.
Of course, there was plenty more on display yesterday, so watch the full State of Play below!
