A major highlight from PlayStation’s State of Play yesterday was the announcement of an all new Marvel fighting game: Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. In development from Arc Systems Works, the game is set to be a 2D, 4v4 tag-team brawler that will excite Marvel and Fighting Game fans alike. It's slated for a 2026 release.

From the trailer and behind-the-scenes videos shared during the presentation, the game will feature Marvel’s iconic heroes with a Japanese art-style, which looks super clean. The studio seems dedicated to bringing an authentic Marvel game to life, sharing all sorts of little easter eggs in the stages during the behind-the-scenes.

Here's what the Game Director and Lead Battle Designer, Kazuto Sekine, had to say about the game's design:

”Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game. We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together – creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience.”

We. Are. Hyped.

Oh and PlayStation wasn’t done there, also announcing that they’re making a Fight Stick controller that’s set to drop in 2026. Plus, there's a new Mortal Kombat collection dropping later this year.

DC fans…hang in there.
