After a bad news week for Microsoft, Xbox has started this week off with a surprise announcement for Gears of War. Dropping on August 26th, 2025, Gears of War: Reloaded is a remaster of the original GOW game, with 4K resolution, 120 FPS on multiplayer and it will be available across all platforms for $39.99! There was no mention of the Switch 2, however that could change in the future.

According to Xbox:

"Gears of War: Reloaded includes the full breadth of content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, delivering the most complete version of the original game to date. Players will gain immediate access to all post-launch downloadable content at no additional cost — this includes the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression."

The Campaign will also have two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer will have up to 8 players. If you previously bought Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, then this remaster will be a free-upgrade for you. Gears of War: Reloaded will also be available day one on Game Pass.
