PAX East, the annual gaming convention set in Boston, just kicked off today, and we got our first major announcement. Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel to the previous Mafia games and the fourth overall Mafia game, and was teased at Gamescom last August and announced at last year's Game Awards. Today, developers Hangar 13 revealed a gameplay trailer, which you can watch below, and announced that Mafia: The Old Country will be dropping August 8th, 2025. Also announced was the price, $49.99, which is a welcomed sight after recent price hikes by Nintendo and Xbox. The game will release on PS5, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

If it wasn't already obvious from the trailer, Mafia: The Old Country is "a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara and prove your worth to the Cosa Nostra in this immersive third-person action-adventure set during a dangerous, unforgiving era." This game is set to be a more linear story experience versus the more open-world style of the previous Mafia 3 game. The gunfight on horseback definitely has a Red Dead Redemption 2 vibe, so we can't wait to play out this Mafioso adventure.

With GTA VI's delay until next Summer, we're in for a lot of release date announcements over the couple of weeks, now that the Fall 2025 launch window is safe for developers to drop games again.
